Local news from the Northamptonshire villages of Cold Ashby, Cottesbrooke, Creaton, Guilsborough, Hollowell, Teeton and Thornby.
Notice of Public Meeting
Saturday 21st April 2-5 pm
Do you want developers to spoil Creaton???
The Government has said that there should be Development Plans for villages. If we define our own plan, we can influence the size of development, what is built and where.
If we don’t – the developers will decide for us!
Come along and have your say!
Venue to be advised
WNDC Audit of Land- update on land identified at Blackberry Farm
The SHLAA Update and Executive assessment just published agreed that this would be an unsustainable development which would only be considered if there were a much smaller number of houses proposed.
Streetlights
Suggestion of a change from all night lighting to Part-night lighting for substantial cost saving
Parish Council are discussing changing all-night’ photocells on the street lights owned by the Parish Council, with ‘part night’ photocells which will switch the street lights off around mid-night and switch them back on at around 5.30 am.
The only exceptions would be:- the lighting at the Lych-gate and the lighting at the pedestrian crossing on the A5199 adjacent to the Bricklayers Arms.
If you have any views on this, please do not hesitate to contact the Clerk.
The next Councillor Surgery :
Wednesday 4th April 2012

Provision of Allotment Gardens
Request for Land
We are currently investigating how the Parish Council can provide allotments. Please contact the Clerk if you have land suitable for allotment or if you wish to be added to the waiting list
Footpath on the Village Green
This has been reported as a health and safety hazard in the strongest terms to Northamptonshire County Council (who are responsible for its upkeep).
20 mph Speed Limit on the Village Green
Parish Council have discussed this suggestion with NCC and resolved that unfortunately it would not be enforceable.
Co-Option of New Councillor
Creaton Parish Council welcomes Geoff White as a Councillor. Geoff will be a real asset to the Parish Council with his knowledge of the planning system.
Bees, Butterflies and Blooms
Many of you may recently have seen the recent programme featuring Creaton to which we have received lots of interest from other parishes wanting to collaborate or follow Creaton’s lead. The Parish Council has set up a small steering group to discuss how to best move forward and support Natural Creaton.
The Parish Council would also like to thank John Harper, Katie Masters and Natural Creaton members for all their hard work in encouraging Bio-diversity in Creaton.
Dangerous Bend on Brixworth Road
(near the Alms Houses)
NCC has agreed that warning of this bend would be a good idea and suggested the following:-
“a ‘bend’ warning sign with an ‘Oncoming vehicles in middle of road’ plate mounted beneath it, together with a SLOW carriageway marking.”
Parish Council are in the process of discussing the most appropriate location for the signage and will consult with any residents affected by additional signage before proceeding.
Qualified Clerk
We are delighted to inform you that the Clerk has just passed the Certificate in Local Council Administration with Distinction.
